CPCS Clinical Assessment Training by ECG, funded by the LPC, is available for 1 pharmacist per pharmacy in Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

We are running a Clinical Training event which is useful for the Community Pharmacist Consultation Service (CPCS) commissioned as an Advanced Service from 29 October 2019, with the expectation that additional strands to the service will continue to be tested and developed in the future.

This course has been written specifically to help community pharmacists build the confidence to clinically assess unwell patients. It includes how to take a concise and clear history of the  presenting complaint and then how to measure and interpret basic clinical observations including pulse, blood pressure, temperature, respiratory rate, blood glucose and urinalysis. The course also includes an introduction to the scoring system National Early Warning System (NEWS) and depression screening for patients, how to handover and document your findings. The course also introduces the learner to the assessment of a patient with a minor ailment and looks at sore throats,
the associated symptoms and red flags.

Date: Thursday, 21st November, 2019
Time: 6.30pm – 9.30pm
Venue: The Pear Tree Inn, Smite, Worcester, WR3 8SY

If this date is not suitable, there’s an alternative course run by CPPE, which is nationally funded, on December 1st in Coventry (see details under Events). There may be another similar event organised by CPPE in Worcester at the end of January, but we haven’t received any details yet.
